Nicholas Mahoney – Undersheriff

Nicholas Mahoney currently serves as Undersheriff for the Pawnee County Sheriff's Office and was appointed to the position in early 2022. Nick is from the Payne County area which borders Pawnee County. Nick has been in law enforcement for 15 years and graduated from the Oklahoma Peace Officers academy in 2008.

Prior to serving at Pawnee County, Nick served with the Guymon, Oklahoma Police Department where he was awarded a lifesaving award, department commendation, and officer of the year. Nick left Guymon and then served for the Wagoner County Sheriff's Office in eastern Oklahoma. Nick Served there as a patrol deputy and eventually as administrative deputy and public information officer.

While at Wagoner County Sheriff's Office, Nick began writing grants and has been awarded more than half-a-million dollars in grants for multiple law enforcement agencies over the last 5-years.

Nick is a certified master public information officer, is a graduate of the 38th FBI-LEEDA media and public relations course, a pepper ball, CPR, basic detention officer academy, and law enforcement instructor.

Nick attended Perkins-Tryon Highschool, Oklahoma Panhandle State University, and Oklahoma State University in Stillwater and Oklahoma City.

During his time at Pawnee County, Nick has written and been awarded grants for body cameras, a new fingerprint machine, night vision, new radios, and software. He has also obtained donations to improve the Sheriff's Office radios system, dispatch equipment, vehicles, and uniforms saving the county thousands of dollars.

Nick has two teen daughters who he enjoys spending his extra time with.


Johnny Wagner - Chaplain

Johnny Wagner – Chaplain

Johnny Wagner began his ministry in 2001 at Village Baptist Church serving as the Minister of Community Outreach and Evangelism. It was during this time that he started serving those in Law Enforcement as well as those in the correctional facilities.

Johnny served as a member of Oklahoma Jail and Prison Ministry along with many other organizations.

Johnny and his family moved to Pawnee County in July of 2015 where he serves as the pastor of Masham Baptist Church by December 2015 Johnny along with other local pastors had begun holding church services in the Pawnee County Jail. By 2016 Johnny accepted the position as County Chaplain.
